I have had this conversation a lot of times recently, for some reason. Also I read a book called World War Z and I am going to have to stick with my canoe plan because it’s awesome and I really enjoyed summer camp.
But I want you also to realize how relevant this comic is. Joss Whedon agrees: Here

important questions, quite!
also, what’s that thing next to the trident? some sort of cleaver thingee?
It’s meant to be some sort of gun, I think I drew some gun gangsters would use in the 30s.
i know exactly what you mean. to prove it, i doctored this: http://i.imgur.com/ORrTn.jpg
Yes! A Tommy gun! It does say be ready for ANY emergency. Nice!
Shows how into guns I am.
I love it! I’m in college, and we are playing Humans v. Zombies right now, so it’s perfect timing.
Good call — no one else is going to want the canoe, so you won’t have to fight for it. However, the paddles may all have been stolen to beat zombies with.
(By the way: “whose” instead of the last “who’s”.)
my plan is to build camp in a gardening store. weapons, food, and wood
While I think that a canoe is a perfectly acceptable getaway vehicle in the event of a zombie apocalypse, I think it only fair to point out that inflatable boats aren’t blown up by mouth, but gas canister. Pull a chord, and FWOOP! almost instant boat. Of course, it’s not as instant as having a canoe. Plus, it’ll have the same problem as the canoe insofar as needing oars or a motor, while at the same time (as you pointed out) not being as durable.
As I typed that, it dawned on me that if one is going to loot a watercraft to escape zombie hordes, why not take a nice yacht from a marina? I mean, yes, the summer camp experience is enjoyable, but is it as nice as a luxury boat?
This is just my plan for escaping the initial attack, i.e. getting out of NYC. After that, a nice yacht sounds pretty great. If you’re going to need to refuel, refuel a yacht! Or learn to sail.
If I were closer to NYC, I would literally be on board with that plan.
On a related note, how sad is it that “Hey, babe. Wanna join me in my canoe for the zombie Apocalypse?” is probably the best pickup line I’ve ever come up with?
i literally spent the past few hours (nearly the entire day!) going through all your comics. haha, keep up the good work! i love stumbling onto comics that keep my attention all the way through to the beginning.
Rad! Thanks for the encouragement! If you read backwards the artistic skills deteriorate a bit but that’s okay.
yea i usually start from the beginning and work my way to the front, but idk why i did it backwards this time around. still great!
